Gas alarm and CO2 measurement
At Buhl & Bønsøe, we know how important it is to have the right measuring equipment. Therefore, you will find several high-quality instruments with us. For example, choose a gas alarm, CO2 meter, or CO meter for both HVAC and gas technicians. Read more about carbon monoxide and gas alarms, as well as CO2 measurement here on the page.
What is a carbon monoxide and gas alarm?
Depending on your needs, you may naturally require several types of measuring instruments. Among the many are carbon monoxide and gas alarms. These resemble each other, but have certain crucial differences; therefore, you may well need both alarms. They can indeed be just as essential as the well-known smoke alarm.
A gas alarm works in many ways like a smoke alarm, but instead reacts to gas. This means that when there is a quantity of gases in the air that are harmful to humans, the alarm will go off. The alarm can be used to measure, for example, natural gas and coal gas. Gas cannot be smelled, felt, or seen, but gas can be measured with a gas detector, also called a gas alarm. Avoid potentially fatal accidents by acquiring a gas alarm.
A carbon monoxide alarm measures, as the name suggests, the amount of carbon monoxide in the air. Carbon monoxide, also called carbon dioxide, is an invisible, tasteless, and odorless gas. A high level of carbon monoxide can occur if you, for example, have a wood stove or a grill standing.
Why is carbon monoxide dangerous?
Even very small amounts of carbon monoxide, that is CO2, can be dangerous. It can thus be a quite critical situation if carbon monoxide escapes, and you do not have a carbon dioxide alarm to warn you. A gas leak is therefore something that must be taken seriously.
Carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide is also called “the silent killer,” and it is essential to have a carbon monoxide meter or CO2 meter with you when installing gas systems. A carbon monoxide meter measures in the unit ppm; parts per million. Carbon monoxide cannot be smelled, tasted, or seen, and it is absorbed 250 times more easily by red blood cells than oxygen.
At Buhl & Bønsøe, we sell, for example, the Testo 317-3, which is a carbon monoxide alarm that can be used for both camping and gas-fired systems. If the level of carbon dioxide in the air exceeds the permitted values, the carbon monoxide alarm emits a high tone, and the area can be evacuated before personal injuries occur.
Which carbon monoxide or gas alarm should I choose?
With many options, it can be difficult to choose between the different alarms. Initially, however, you should consider whether you need a carbon monoxide and/or gas alarm. If you have a wood stove, it is a carbon monoxide alarm you need to get. If you have a gas stove in the kitchen or camper, it is a gas alarm you should acquire.
There are thus several devices that use gas, and in certain cases, there may be a need for a specific alarm. When you need to measure indoor climate or conduct building inspections, we can, for example, recommend a 400 IAQ CO2 meter. However, we sell many different and super effective measuring instruments that can measure CO2 and CO.
With Testo, you get precise measuring equipment of high quality. Servicing gas systems has never been easier. Also, CO2 measurement becomes easier with measuring equipment from Testo. Therefore, find your next CO2 meter in the wide selection with us.
How to perform CO2 measurement
A correct gas or CO2 measurement begins with the right equipment. This can, for example, be CO2 measurement with a data logger. Here we have the Testo 160 IAQ data logger with full integration into Testo's cloud, which is an excellent tool. This means that if you have already set up a cloud data logger system, you can add air quality measurement to your site by adding a 160 IAQ logger.
