Measure temperature on all surfaces
A surface temperature meter is used as indicated by the name to measure the temperature of the surface of a measurement object. This is often used if one does not want to touch the measurement subject with a temperature sensor, or if one does not need a 100% accurate temperature measurement, but just wants to know if their measurement subject is within a set limit value.
Surface thermometer for greater hygiene
Meat in a refrigerated display, for example, must not have a surface temperature above four degrees, as hygiene cannot be ensured at higher temperatures that allow the growth of bacteria. Therefore, a surface thermometer is often used for meat and food products.
Infrared non-contact temperature measurement
If you want to ensure that you do not affect your measurement subject, you can use an infrared thermometer for surface temperature measurement. Infrared measurement is done by irradiating what needs to be measured with infrared light, which is then reflected back to the thermometer.
Surface temperature can be measured with a thermographic camera
Did you know that a thermal camera can show you the temperature in real-time on the display? You do not need to buy a dedicated surface thermometer, but can use the more versatile thermal camera for surface temperature measurement. The larger models of thermographic cameras have a built-in moisture module, so you can detect moisture damage in real-time.
Quick temperature measurement
We recommend purchasing an infrared thermometer with the option to attach an external sensor, this way you can skim surface temperatures but still delve deeper using the external temperature sensor. A temperature probe measures more accurately than a surface temperature measurement.
Another approach is to buy a set with an infrared thermometer and a thermometer with a sensor, this way you can quickly make accurate control measurements of your surface temperature measurements if required.
At Buhl and Bønsøe, we have a huge selection of digital surface temperature meters, if you are unsure about the optimal setup in your specific situation, our product specialists can engage in dialogue with you so that together you can find the optimal measuring equipment.
