Precise soot measurement for optimizing oil burners and more

Soot measurement has once again come into focus as oil prices only go one way, therefore it is important to have optimal combustion in your oil burner or other installations. We sell soot pump sets where you can both manually and electronically measure the precise soot values in your installation. Just take a look here.

Manual soot pump set

Control of soot values requires a good soot pump. A soot pump set is used to determine the soot value on oil burners, the soot value can be used to optimize combustion. There is a manual soot pump set, where you have to pull ten times on the soot pump while the tube is in the chimney. Marking of the soot value is done on paper and must be read manually with the corresponding color scales.

Electronic soot pump set

The electronic soot pump Testo 308 measures soot values optically, you turn on the soot pump and insert the hose into the chimney, then the soot value is read automatically even with decimals. It is a more accurate measurement method than the manual one. If you have a Testo 330 flue gas analyzer, you can get it to work together with Testo 308 via infrared technology, the soot pump sends the measured soot values to the 330 flue gas tester, where the soot value can then be printed along with the other measurements from the flue gas tester.

Use the soot pump for adjusting oil burners

The law states that an oil burner must be cleaned, adjusted, and control measured once a year for environmental reasons. It is common sense to have your oil burner checked as required by law. A cleaned and adjusted oil burner utilizes the heating oil much better and can reduce oil consumption by up to 25 percent. A soot pump is absolutely essential in this process.

When an oil burner has been installed, an oil burner technician must adjust the burner’s air-fuel ratio. This is typically done by adjusting a valve that allows more or less air into the burner. If the burner is set incorrectly, it operates inefficiently and soot can accumulate.
