Temperature Indicators for Blood Bags
HemoTemp® II indicators are reversible/irreversible temperature indicators based on liquid crystals that display the blood unit's time and temperature history. After activation, the irreversible part changes color from blue to a non-blue color as the blood temperature rises. Once the indicator has lost its blue color, it does not revert to its original color even if the blood is re-cooled. This ensures that the user has information about the blood unit's time and temperature history.
The HemoTemp II blood bag indicators are attached outside the blood bag where they can be easily seen and monitored by staff. If an indicator shows that a blood bag has been exposed to temperatures outside the recommended range, staff can assess what actions are necessary to ensure the product's safety and quality.
The reversible part of the indicator provides continuous temperature monitoring, making it easy to read the current temperature of the blood between 1°C and 9°C.
Operating Temperature Range
- Reversible: 1°C - 9°C
- Irreversible: 6°C - 10°C
