What is a data logger?

A data logger is a smart device that automatically monitors and stores various parameters. This can range from temperature to humidity levels in a room. With this type of equipment, you can document collected data and then analyze it to gain insights into the indoor climate, for example.

The advantages of a data logger are that you avoid collecting data the old-fashioned way, where you manually observe temperature changes with pen and paper. Testo presents the 160 series, which includes the new CO2 data logger, Testo 160 IAQ. This is the first air quality data logger in Testo's range. In addition to measuring CO2, the data logger can also measure temperature and humidity. 

The product can, for example, measure relative humidity with very small deviations, and if the humidity level rises above a given threshold, the data loggers will inform you of the change via SMS or email. 

With this variant, you get two additional ports for connecting external sensors. For example, a lux sensor and a UV sensor, which makes the 160 IAQ an optimal data logger for museums and for use in display cases, for example. 

Why you should measure CO2

CO2 occurs naturally in the Earth's atmosphere in low concentrations. The gas is both odorless and invisible, and therefore you will only become aware of the gas if the concentration in the air is very high. Humans will be affected by CO2 in large concentrations, including reducing your concentration ability and causing headaches. Here, the gas will also have a sharp smell and give a sour taste in the mouth. 

It is therefore important to keep an eye on the CO2 level indoors, because if the concentration exceeds the limit value, you should optimize the ventilation in the room. For this reason, it is a good idea to monitor CO2 with electronic measuring equipment, which you can find at Buhl & Bønsøe.

The 160 series is fully compatible with Testo Cloud, which stores your data “in the cloud.” This way, you can always access your stored information, no matter where you are, as long as you are connected to wifi. These loggers can easily be connected to the existing system of cloud loggers.
